Jimmy- the all American slum-lord and by birthright the Mayor of Hawk Town. He is a lazy, fantasy-driven, reluctant genius. Jimmy is deranged in a moderately harmless way. He means well enough but he has little concern for his own safety. He is highly articulate but often disoriented and prone to fits of rage.
Debbie- the mother, is Jimmy’s everything. Debbie is 39, and is much, much more intelligent than Jimmy. She is the only one who knows Jimmy well enough to treat him the way that he loves to be treated, which is terribly. She is fiercely competitive and is more than comfortable taking things into her own hands.
Jake- the oldest son, is 17 and is the resident jock at his high school. Jake is not the smartest member of the family, but he’s stubborn, which someone told him once is pretty much as good as being intelligent.
Richie- the youngest son, is 14 years old. He’s a smart kid who doesn’t take much crap from anyone without trying to get even. Richie is starved for his father’s attention (Jimmy ignores his favorite too), he constantly takes whatever bad advice is offered his way but overall is pretty laid back.
Pendleton- "Pendy" is the beligerant, confused, drunk tree stump who lives in Jimmy's front yard. He may or may not be real.
Franklin- Jimmy’s long time friend and neighbor. Franklin is 45, black and divorced. He lives next door with his father Big Frank. Franklin also has a young son (Lil’ Frank) who moves in when his mother passes away. Franklin is a conservative Republican and much more “well adjusted” than Jimmy, but loves to come for the ride.
Bill- Jimmy’s new neighbor/best friend and father to Sarah. William “Deathblow” Mc’Deethblau is 55, supposedly a CIA operative, super spy assassin, an ex-astronaut and the new hero of every man in the neighborhood. He is very “into” being retired, but proudly brags of having killed over a thousand people in his service as a CIA assassin and international mercenary. He is semi-retired and is slightly jealous of Jimmy’s care-free lifestyle. Jimmy is slightly jealous that Bill has killed with impunity before, and often.
Vanessa- Bill’s wife and mother to Sarah. Vanessa is 39, a highly intelligent possible CIA operative, super spy assassin and coincidentally, was Debbie’s best friend in high school, until they had a tragic falling out that involved attempted manslaughter. She is very high-strung, very territorial, and fiercely competitive. She is more dedicated than ever to her work, and is furious that Bill is semi-retired. When speaking with Sarah (her daughter) she demands Sarah call her Vanessa.
Sarah- Sarah is 14, new to high school in Hawktown and in Ritchie’s class. She is attracted to the “bad boy” type that doesn’t think too hard. She likes to be in charge, and the only person she will listen to is her father, or whoever speaks with that level of confidence. No one in the high school has anywhere near that level of confidence, so she wears a catholic school uniform to the public school because it helps her control adult men.
The Tower or "Hawk Gardens"- The singular rundown tower is haunted, cursed and becomes more and more intent on destroying the lives of everyone living inside. The magic hole is the nerve center of the tower, a mysterious opening in the living room wall that acts similarly to a magician’s magic hat. It is a portal to another dimension which reacts to the imagination of whoever jams their arm inside it. |
